Heroes Episode 4 – Collision

Heroes Episode 4 – Collision

We start off in a morgue where things looked grim for Claire (Hayden Panettiere) who apparently received a deadly blow to the head. She is visibly lifeless until the stick that was lodged into her left side was removed. She then slowly comes back to life and her open chest heals itself. The scene in the morgue is grotesque, but another well orchestrated scene.

As we saw in episode 3 Matt (Greg Grunberg), the telepathic cop, faints in a bar and now wakes up to find himself in an undisclosed location, bound to a table. The wires and machines are not particularly menacing, but the mysterious black rimmed glasses character (Jack Coleman) isn’t known for his bedside manner. We learn that HRG is part of an organization that “doesn’t have initials” and that they want to learn
about these special people. The question which will be revealed later is why are they so curious to learn about these special people?

Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) has a brief run-in with Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), who tries to warn Nathan about the man named Sylar and the things seen in Sylar’s apartment. He asks if Nathan has noticed any unexpected changes in his physiology, but Nathan isn’t talking. Obviously Nathan knows a little more about his brother’s powers and Suresh’s research. Nathan tells Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) to disappear for awhile.

While Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) finally make it to Las Vegas and decide to have some fun, utilizing Hiro’s powers. Niki (Ali Larter) has been “persuaded” in typical mob fashion by Mr. Linderman to entertain a visiting politician to help obtain some leverage. Yup, none other than Nathan Petrelli. She is unable to go through with it, but her alter ego takes control after giving another thug a proper beating.

We see the star quarterback in shock when he sees Claire back in school. Apparently he has a history of getting in trouble with other school girls. Claire lures him and decides to go on little car ride, she being behind the wheel. Knowing she cannot be fatally injured and wanting some revenge, she crashes the car.

Towards the end of the episode we see black rimmed man and his Haitian sidekick enter Petrelli’s bedroom where he and either Niki or her alter ego are sleeping. It looks like they are headed for trouble.

The very last scene pits a cooler looking Hiro, speaking perfect English and Peter in a train where time has come to a standstill. Peter, looking confused is confronted by Hiro who says he has a message for him. End of episode.

Collision is a perfect title to this episode as it starts to link the different characters together. Each are dumfounded at first at the special powers they possess. We also find the Peter can mimic powers of others, solely when they are in his presence. If we go back a couple episodes, we saw Peter constantly falling flat on his face after leaping off a jungle gym, trying to repeat his flying stunt.
